Pie Will Survive

I’m a lover, not a fighter. My campness is not a result of liberal idealism; I’ve simply lost so many brawls that i’ve had pacifism thrust upon me. Nowadays, the only way i’d get involved in a ruck is if the wife was being mugged. If we stood together, I reckon we could take her.

Jose Mourinho and Roman Abramovich do not share my increasingly feminine outlook. War has broken out between manager and chairman, and Chelsea’s title ambitions are the first confirmed casualty. The beleaguered Blues are still firing on all cylinders in the cups though; Nottingham Forest will be cut down at a scything 1/7.

Mercato? What mercato?
The winter break usually has the pundits speculating about who's going where for whom and for how much.

This year is no different, however the moves have been few and far between as aside from the Gallacticos, nobody's puting themselves on the line to make the first move.

Why is it that none of the top 4 in the EPL has gone out and improved themselves? Is Chelsea not in need of some depth at striker? Do they have a safety valve should Cech's head injury worsen? Can Arsenal continue to rely on youth alone and make it to the CL? Is Liverpool content with 4th place? Can Man U hold off Chelsea with Larsen as a starting striker?

Too many questions not enough answers, maybe the last week of the mercato will provide some.
Player of the Week - March 24th

Stopping a penalty is the biggest thing a goalie can do and when you do it twice in the same game you know you are the player of the week material!

That's exactly what argentine Leo Franco did for Atletico Madrid against Sevilla in La Liga action.  First he denied Kanoute stretching far to his right to deflect the penalty kick off the post and safely into his arms and then still in the first half, he turned away Saviola again with a dive to his right.

Despite his best efforts, Sevilla managed to win the game 1-0, not before counterpart goalie Palop was nailed in the head with a flying bottle of Ballentines and the game being suspended and later completed in an empty stadium.
