French League Cup Action Posted: 2003-10-28 13:53:29 By: DrunkenGoon
Strasbourg -0.5 +110 over Bordeaux 3 units
The home team is resting a couple of players with captain Martins and starting goalie Dutruel getting the midweek off. Bordeaux on the other hand is coming off a precious draw at Nice. They have to travel back to Code d'Azur to take on Marseille this weekend. That game is definitelly on the minds of the new Bordeaux coach and it appears he will pay a lot more attention to that game than today's trip to Alsace. They also have to travel to Strasbourg next month, so they will not want to show their hosts much for that much more important league game.

Ajaccio -0.5 +140 over Nice 2 units
The home team will play with pretty much their best lineup here, while Nice has decided to rest a few starters such as Ben Haddou, Camara, Grégorini, Kamudimba and Varrault not even making the trip while other starters such as Paramot and Laslandes will start on the bench.

Auxerre -0.5 -154 over Rennes 3 units
Visitors have not scored in the French league this month.. They are travelling to Auxerre without Monterrubio who's still injured and Alexander Frei taking a rest. Boloni's boys should be in over their head against a cup specialist here in Auxerre. Auxerre needs to calm the spirits of their followings after a crapy home start to the season and this is a very good opportunity.

Tuesday's UEFA CL Action Posted: 2003-10-21 10:06:10 By: DrunkenGoon
Arsenal -0.5 2.25 over Dynamo Kiev is a can't miss price at Canbet. This is one of those pressure games where Arsenal has to deliver for the club's bottom line. If they don't win, the pressure will mount. With Patrick Vieira ready to play, I think the Gunners will get the much needed victory here. Kiev has some injury knocks with Cernat not playing and Rincon playing with some knocks. Arsenal will miss Keown and there's doubt about Ljundberg's ability to play.

Depor -0.5 1.60 over Monaco The spanish side has been smoking la liga with 6 wins in 7 with the only hickup in a freak 3-2 loss at Osasuna. Pandiani has been on fire but you can say the same about Morientes for Monaco. The Principat team will miss their greek midfielder Zikos. This is also a good candicate for an over, at O2.5 -105 we've got ourselves a bargain price.

Celtic -0.5 3.00 over Anderlecht I am a believer. Despite Anderlecht not losing at home this season, if you look at their performances, they could be had. Rapid was up 2-0 on them at half time. Bayern managed to come back from 0-1 to get a draw in 10 men. Celtic played very well at Bayern and deserved points but let it slip at the end. Anderlecht is in a must win at home and pushing for the win in a tie game usually results on a counter goal from the opponent. The price is right and the teams are ready for an away win here.

Other Plays:
AEK Athens/PSV UNDER 2.5 1.85
Juventus/Real Sociedad UNDER 2.5 2.00

Record Update Posted: 2003-09-19 11:57:14 By: DrunkenGoon
I have neglected to update my record. Here are the year to date numbers:
Season Totals: 9-5-1 +4.18 units

I will try to update them weekly from now on.

Mixed Weekend Action Posted: 2003-09-13 01:04:17 By: DrunkenGoon
Wolfsburg/Bayern UNDER 2.75 -105 3 units
Both teams with a lot of players in midweek international action. Hosts are missing D'Alessandro and Franz through suspension. Bayern is banged up and will play without Ballack and Pizzaro ahead of their CL clash with Celtic. They will also be without long term injury casualty Sebastian Deisler and Jens Jeremies. Roque Santa Cruz/Roy Makaay partnership up front is yet to get on the board this season.

Strasbourg -0.5 -105 over Ajaccio 2 units
A lot has been made about Ajaccio's hot start but when you look at it they managed to win away to two newly promoted teams. The draw at Nice was not really deserved. They are 0-2 at home but they play away. Strasbourg on the other hand will be trying to make amends to the home fans after a loss to Lens where the threw everything including the kitchen sink at the young French Espoire star keeper Charles Itandje. Expect Ljuboja and company to take control of this one early.

Saturday Euro 2004 Qualifying Posted: 2003-09-06 07:57:20 By: DrunkenGoon
Poland -0.5 +135 @ Pinnacle 2 units
Bosnia/Norway UNDER 2.5 -133 @Oly 4 units
Italy -0.5 -250 over Wales @5dimes 2 units

Marseille DNB -111 over Austria Vienna (Pinnacle) 2 units

The difference in class here is obvious. Marseille has not done well away to quality teams in CL, but I don't think Austria is quite on that level. Let's home Marseille has learned something from their previous trip to Austria when they were beaten by Sturm Graz in 99-00 CL action.

I have seen both Marseille league games this season and I am quite impressed by their attacking style, despite only scoring 2 goals in 2 games, both 1-0 wins.

This is Marseille's first European adventure since being tossed out by Feyenoord 4 years ago and they would like to make it a long one.

Forecast includes rain at gametime.

Saturday Action Posted: 2003-08-09 07:24:43 By: DrunkenGoon
I am very short on time so there will be no analysis...

Bursa DNB -120 over Gaziantepspor 2 units
Bayern Munich -0.5 -117 over Hannover 5 units
Lyon -0.5 +104 over Monaco 2 units
Bordeaux -0.5 -160 over Montpellier 2 units
Ajaccio +0.5 -118 over LeMans 2 units
Lille/PSG UNDER 2.5 -150 2 units

Lots of games, little time, little info....Sorry guys, but I will have details next time around!

Wednesday's Intertoto Action Posted: 2003-08-06 14:06:15 By: DrunkenGoon
Werder Bremen -1.5 -115 over SV Pasching 2 units

I still cannot understand what happened in the first leg, but the result is proof enough that Bremen had an off day. Maybe they focused too much on the Bundesliga start, the 3-0 away trashing of Hertha proves that.

Bremen has in their history recovered from a bad first leg and have the horses to do so here.

French League Round 1 Posted: 2003-08-02 13:42:01 By: DrunkenGoon
Toulouse -0.5 +109 over Strasbourg 2 units

It has been a while but they have made it back to the first division. I expect the home team to be carried by a fanatic crowd against a Strasbourg team that had been very ordinary on the road in the past.

Nantes +0.5 -105 over Sochaux 2 units

Nantes rested most of their starters in midweek intertoto action against Perugia and that tells me they are very serious about this game. They started last season with an away win vs Marseille, expect that to repeat. Sochaux will be without Mathieu(knee) and Pagis(suspended) while Nantes will be without Delhommeau and Armand. Lately, both teams have gone 2-2-2 head to head in the league action.

Bundesliga Round 1 pick Posted: 2003-08-02 09:20:14 By: DrunkenGoon
Wolfsburg -140 over Bochum 4 units

The wolves are 4-1-1 in last 6 vs Bochum. The hosts have the advantage of having played a few competitive games in the Intertoto cup. I expect the new partnership of DAlessandro and Diego Klimowicz to make all the difference in this game. The aqusition of Marko Topic from Cottbus should offset the injury trouble of Tomislav Maric in the Wolfsburg front line.

I think Bochum will have trouble on the road this season, and getting a result at Volkswagen Arena is slightly beyond their means this time around.

Predicted score: 2-0
